Gifts

What are some of the best gifts you have ever had?

What are some of the worst?

Gifts are a strange thing, and sometimes so hard to buy for people you really don't know. It usually starts off with smelly's (although I don't mind that especially if it is vanilla influenced and from the Body Shop hint hint) then it's the legendary socks... Oh yes the brown Poo coloured socks with Santa on or cats (sorry if I've offended Santa and cat lovers!) but as you begin to get to know the person, gifts seem to get easier, for a while that its. I mean after you've given them that CD or DVD, or that handbag, it starts to get more expensive. My best friend brought her husband a pen for Christmas... it was £250! For a pen!! Apparently its really nice (!) she got it engraved and everything. My goodness if that's what love does to ya, I better start saving!

However, for my friend, this gift was special and important and something that he really appreciated even though he was not expecting it.

I guess God is like that sometimes

He gives us stuff when we least expect it but are we always grateful? I bet most of the time we don't even recognise that we have been given a gift! The amazing thing about Christianity is the gift of Grace. This is absolutely free and the only thing that God asks for in return is that we love him.

Whoa! That sounds like a contradiction to me!

Well its not. God gives us grace, and we love. He doesn't say, if you don't love me you wont get any grace! Its more like here's Grace. You choose whether you accept it and love Him.'

Grace, for all those who are not Christians reading this is, God accepting us no matter what we have done. He does not hold anything against us. We don't need to keep doing penace, or praying 5 times a day, or keep getting reincarnated until we get things right. Things are already right for us. all we need to do is accept that.

The thing that I find with gifts is that your so happy and gratefull that you spend all your time thinking of ways to repay your thankfulness. sometimes these efforts are empty and end up being a compitition to see who can out do each other. If that starts then you've missed the point.

Its not a compitition! do it out of Love!

mmm

Your kingdom come, your will be done

how often do we say the Lords pray and actually understand what we are saying.

Is such a profound prayer! But makes so much sense when you go through it. I won't bore you with the details but, this line has been going round in my head all week.

your kingdom come....

not our, or my, but God's!

what exactly are we asking for here, for Jesus to come back? For God to be revealed? For heaven to come to earth?

I don't know

you will be done..

again this is not my will, or our will, but God's will

now that takes faith! To say 'whatever your will is God, let it happen!' to say that and believe it is hard, but his burden is easy and his yoke is light. God wants us to be living sacrifices. This means EVERYDAY. Laying our lives down everyday, picking up our cross everyday. Allowing God's will to be done everyday!

God's will be done

even when we don't know where we are going

God's will be done

even when we are scared of the future

Gods will be done

Even when things seem conflicting

God's will be done

even when we don't understand

God's will be done!

I truly believe that Gods will has been made known to us, we just need to open our eyes to see it. The God that I know and understand, is not evil, vindictive, but loving and even disciplines us when needed.

but how can we know if God's will is our will, I hear you cry! Well... Ask him. Keep in constant communion with him, confess your sins daily and find out. If you knock, the door shall open, so ask.

ok, ok, so your waiting for a big neon sign to say..... 'THIS IS MY WILL....' well God doesn't always work like that. Its in the quiet still times when God speaks the loudest and clearest. God has given us all a passion and desire for something, I believe that's where his will starts, with you, so get praying.

oh yea of little faith, why do you doubt.

Job

So

I didn't get the job in Manchester

boo hoo!

but it has thrown me into a web of confusion!

God has clearly closed that door, so I need to wait for another to open.

I don't like it. Its a strange place to be in...

The Waiting Room...

time ticks so slowly, waiting for your turn, all kinds of things run through your mind, when will I be seen?!

mmmm
